Finland’s transport minister, Sanna Marin, has been appointed the leader of the Social Democratic Party making her the world’s youngest Prime Minister at only 34 years old.
Marin, whose party is the largest in a five-member governing coalition, will be Finland’s third female government leader and the world’s youngest Prime Minister. The Social Democratic Party rose to become Finland’s largest party in the April election. The party has the autonomy to appoint one of their members to the post of Prime Minister in the 5.5 million populated Nordic state. Her appointment comes after the resignation of Antti Rinnie on Tuesday after a party in the coalition said it had lost confidence in him following the manner in which he handled a postal strike. Marin spoke to reporters following her appointment after winning a narrow vote saying, “We have a lot of work ahead to rebuild trust.” She added, “I have never thought about my age or gender, I think of the reasons I got into politics and those things for which we have won the trust of the electorate.” Keep up to date with more news at ProperGaanda: Two Airplanes Will Be Used In The Fight Against Locusts: Sindh Government
