The HBL PSL season 5 officially gets a start with an electrifying opening ceremony at the packed National Stadium Karachi.
The ceremony had a patriotic beginning with the national anthem. A small band comprising national drummers and trumpet players, dressed in the national dress played an instrumental version of PSL 2020 anthem. The instrumental performance was followed by a virtual storytelling called the “The Story of PSL’s Pakistan” that portrayed the journey of an eagle (Shaheen) in all six cities that are represented by PSL franchises. The first performance of the night was an incredible display of traditional music in the form of a Sufi medley featuring singer Sanam Marvi, qawwals Fareed Ayaz and Abu Mohammad, and the Soch band. Next up, Pakistan’s veteran pop singer Sajjad Ali took the stage and performed a medley of his greatest hits. Aima Baig enthralled the crowd with her upbeat songs. Following Aima’s performance, Pakistan’s one of the renowned Punjabi singers, Abrarul Haq entered the stage on a rickshaw-like vehicle adding to the enthusiasm of the spectators. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, a big name in music known internationally, took over the stage and proved to be the most-awaited performer of the night as the crowd was mesmerized by his voice.
