The National Assembly has passed the Zainab Alert Bill in order to set up an agency that will report and work on missing children cases The Bill will allow Zainab Alert, Response and Recovery Agency (ZARRA) to be set up, where an alert will automatically be generated in the instance of a missing child report being filed. It will also feature a ‘response and recovery’ mechanism in order to prevent any more child abduction or slaughter cases from occurring. The Bill has been inspired by recent events in Kasur, and its name pertains to the widely known murder of Zainab Ansari, a six year old girl from the area.
