Pakistani President Arif Alvi condemned comments made by a former Indian army official, Major General SP Sinha, via Twitter. The remarks in question were made on an Indian news channel titled TV9 Bharatvarsh where he was recorded as saying ‘death in return for death, rape in return for rape’.
Disgraceful. Maj Gen(R) SP Sinha a leader of BJP advocates rape of Kashmiri women on TV. Imagine the fate of women in Indian Occupied Kashmir where such men wield power with total impunity. Indian forces have used rape as a tool according to HRW report https://t.co/tfKDIjWLib https://t.co/7NBCJ9WvB1

Alvi called the remarks ‘disgraceful’ and added ‘Imagine the fate of women in Indian occupied Kashmir where such men wield power with total impunity’. The President’s tweet came a day after the clip went viral on social media and many began to criticise the ex-army official. Human Rights Groups have been vocal about the abysmal treatment of Kashmiris in Indian occupied Kashmir for years. Tensions between the neighbouring states escalated this year when the Indian government revoked the autonomy of the disputed territories amidst international backlash.
