Veere di Wedding the first big desi film with all female lead cast was one of the most anticipated movies of 2018. But the decision of Pakistani censor board to ban the movie due to vulgarity was not well received. There was an array of responses to this ban. Producer of the movie Rhea Kapoor gave a shout-out to all the veeres in Pakistan for supporting the movie.

And then there was the actress Swara Bhaskar who chose to stay in her character during an interview, in which she was asked about this ban. She responded by calling Pakistan a ‘failing state’ with ‘sharia law’. This didn’t sit well with Pakistanis all over Twitter. Swara visited Pakistan in 2015 and her views then were drastically different from today. Twitter called her out for her blatant bigotry.
Double standards much Swara? Make up your mind already‼️We’re not quite sure what you actually feel about Pakistan and we’re definitely not a failing state girl.

Urwa Hocane was one of the first celebrities to respond to Bhaskar’s view of Pakistan. There were harsh responses and then there were few who just seem too done with the situation.
2/3 While you’re on this spree of empowering women,i must say you’ve become a bitter person. And all of this is odd coming from a citizen of a state that bans their own films i.e. #Padmavat so let’s not talk about women empowerment. — URWA HOCANE (@VJURWA) June 2, 2018
Swara Bhaskar's interview was unprofessional and ignorant! Not to mention downright batameez and hypocritical.
Rather than Pakistanis getting angry, I am sure alot of Indians must be (or should be) embarrassed that someone sitting at such a platform can spew such nonsense. — Mansha Pasha (@manshapasha) June 2, 2018
The comments made by @ReallySwara & Kangana Ranaut earlier just go to prove the point that I have been https://t.co/8RoaMTehPK cannot ignore 70 years of history & when the chips are down their nationalism will always come up trumps. The fault lies with us who see their indust..1/2 — Mehwish Hayat TI (@MehwishHayat) June 3, 2018
People! #SwaraBhaskar ‘s opinion on #Pakistan is as important as ilaychee in biryani or the first slice of bread that nobody ever gave a damn about. — Rakshinda (@Rakshindatweets) June 3, 2018
In your interview you said “#Pakistan is a failing state, I don’t understand why we keep taking pleasure and feeling sense of self worth from all the things that happens in #Pakistan”. Let me inform you that #Pakistan is the 5th largest market for Bollywood films, (4/10) — Mirza Gohar (@GoharRsd) June 3, 2018

Few thought that there will be an apology but Miss Bhaskar is going with the flow and trolling people along.

Thanks Anshul! there should we a distinction between States/ govts of a country & the people of that country. My regard for & goodwill towards the people of #Pakistan remains unchanged. Some of my closest friends are Pakistani. Lahore remains one of my soul cities. ❤️❤️ https://t.co/JHImDSnwKU — Swara Bhasker (@ReallySwara) June 4, 2018
Swara Bhaskar is a good actress but she could have handled this situation better and more responsibly. Though once again the power of Twitterati remains unchallenged.s
