“Just because a woman is from the entertainment business, DOES NOT mean she is looking for your ‘business’ cards to be slid under her door.”
Humaima Malick just became the freshest victim of harassment and took to social media to share her experience. The actress was ‘stalked’ by a creepy stranger outside her room while she was staying at the famous Nishat Hotel, Lahore. She blamed the hotel management in her claims, saying that they had breached her privacy and shared her private information with a total stranger. The person slipped his business card under her door and actually asked her why she had been crying. Creepy, indeed! ( Was his ear glued to the door?! ) The claims are supported by the screenshots of these rather alarming messages from her phone!
Evidence of the harassment I had to endure at Nishat Hotel. Be aware if you lose a loved one and someone dies in your family while staying at Nishat – you cannot cry in your room otherwise people might drop business cards pic.twitter.com/tF5R0iynJW — HUMAIMA MALICK (@HumaimaMalick) August 8, 2018
Malick also named names from Nishat who were involved in the deliberate breach. Not only that, they put up her photographs on theirĀ social media without seeking her consent and she failed to receive a positive response after she made complaints. This is what she had to say about the whole disturbing incident.
I am sharing my experience because I think its high time when i should come forward and share my experience against harassment and how an educated class also chose to ignore it and take such important issues lightly @TheNishatHotel pic.twitter.com/OtRwJ5EQXD — HUMAIMA MALICK (@HumaimaMalick) August 8, 2018
It is simply dreadful how occurrences like this have become a common practice. Women like Humaima Malick and Meesha Shafi who are in empowerment dare to become vocal about it. And most of the time, they receive a brutal backlash. This reflects the attitude of our society towards women. Even when a victim, they are suspected of being the culprit with ulterior motives. That leaves us with a question of paramount importance.
