The Donkey King and its Impeccable Timing for the Trailer Release

Another Pakistani animated film titled ‘The Donkey King’ from Pakistan is giving viewers something to look forward to and be proud of. The animated film by Geo Films and Talisman Studios is set to release in October 2018. It packs sharp animations with a sense of familiarity that arises from the lingo used in the film. The trailer is both witty and gripping as it opens with a donkey imagining himself as a king, but then suddenly waking up to reality (frankly, don’t we all?) Many have also pointed out that the donkey bears a stark similarity to the infamous Shrek donkey, and we can very well see the validity of the comparison without actually being given this information int he first place. However, the moment the donkey utters the first dialogues you realize that this donkey is very much desi. Not to mention the recent donkey debacle in Pakistani government with PM Imran Khan calling opposition supporters donkeys, we can’t help but try to make a connection. Even though this film was probably in production well before Khan made the comment. But the move fits the timings impeccably. It claims to be a fun film for all ages and we can’t wait to see it!
