Shahid Khaqan Abassi becomes the first Pakistani prime minister to fly a military helicopter
On Sunday, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, took the Turkish attack helicopter T-129 for a test flight, becoming the first Pakistani premier to fly a military helicopter, reported Radio Pakistan. Following the test-flight of T-129 helicopter, Abassi spoke to the Pakistani and Turkish media saying that Turkey’s defence production industry is one of the best in the world and second to none. He lauded Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish aviation industry for such advances in defence production.
Imran Khan: After Nawaz, it’s Zardari’s turn to face accountability
On Sunday, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan stated that after Nawaz Sharif it is now Asif Ali Zardari’s turn to face accountability. Khan made the statement while addressing a political gathering in Sehwan, Jamshoro. PTI held a public convention in Sehwan due to the political uncertainty and the upcoming 2018 general elections. On the same day, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari addressed a political gathering in Peshawar. Khan accused Asif Ali Zardari of corruption during the convention. He said corruption is the most significant problem of the country. He said that Sindh is the most affected by corruption. India win Hockey cup, Pakistan comes in third After beating Malaysia 2-1 in the final of the tournament, Indian Men’s Hockey team were crowned Asia Cup 2017 Champions at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Sunday, reported Asian Hockey Federation. This is the third time that India have won the Asia Cup title and after a gap of 10 years. The Pakistan team defeated the Korean side 6-3 to end their Asia Cup 2017 campaign with a Bronze Medal.
Interior Ministry warned by Chinese Embassy of possible “threat” to ambassador
The Chinese Embassy has purported that a member of the terrorist network East Turkestan Islamic Movement has “sneaked into Pakistan” and poses a threat to the Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong. The information was shared in a letter that was leaked to the media on Saturday. As of yet, the embassy and the Interior Ministry have refused to comment on the letter, neither refuting nor verifying its authenticity. Allegedly, in the letter, the Chinese Embassy has requested that Pakistan increase the security provided to Chinese companies and Chinese people in Pakistan. The embassy has also asked the ministry to arrest the alleged terrorist and hand him over to China.
Sharif Brothers tried to get me killed twice: Asif Ali Zardari
Former president Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday said he would not shake hand with the Sharif brothers this time round, alleging they twice planned his murder in the past. “The Sharif brothers twice planned my murder in captivity in 1990s…but by God’s will they could not succeed,” Mr Zardari was quoted as having said by PPP information secretary Chaudhry Manzoor.
