Up till now, all the captains who won the toss have elected to bowl first and so did Islamabad United’s young captain Shadab Khan, in the fifth match of HBL PSL 2020. Putting Sultans into bat, United’s M. Musa gave a desirable start to Islamabad as he just conceded 3 runs in the first over, making it tough for the Multan batsmen to set up the momentum.
The Sultans tried to come back in the game by hitting a few boundaries but their first wicket fell when captain Shan Masood was caught off Faheem’s ball in a blinder by Musa.
England’s veteran batsman Moeen Ali went for just 10 runs while Rilee Rossouw got out on a duck. Ammad Butt bagged 4 wickets giving away just 24 runs.
With the wickets tumbling, Masood-led Sultans managed to put up a decent total of 164 runs in 20 overs.
The United’s Munro-Ronchi opening duo gave a banging start to their side untill Munro was bowled out by Afridi after scoring his fifty. Ronchi scored a blistering innings of 74 runs, which included 2 sixes and 9 fours. Ronchi’s powershow aided in an easy victory for the two-time HBL PSL “Champions” Islamabad United by a wide margin. They chased down the target in their 17th over with 2 wickets down, claiming their first triumph of PSL 2020.
Ronchi was awarded with the well-deserved Man of the Match trophy.
