What happened : ACF received with considerable criticism for accepting Rs1million donation given to the organization as per the settlement in Karachi’s DHA dog attack case. As a result, ACF returned the donation and released a statement rejecting all accusations of their involvement. Details : Earlier, an out-of-court settlement was reached between the victim of a dog attack in DHA Karachi and the dogs’ owners which included, amongst other conditions, that the dogs be euthanized and a Rs1 million donation be made to the Ayesha Chundrigar Foundation (ACF). However, ACF met with considerable criticism for accepting the donation as people started to question the involvement of the organization in the case. People accused ACF of dismissing the lives of dogs for the donation as the organization could have taken the dogs into shelter and trained them. “CDRS Benji Project and others offered to take the dogs, but they were killed off so quickly that those options and alternatives were never even properly explored or considered,” Founder of CDRS Comprehensive Disaster Response Services stated. In an Instagram post, ACF said, “We have been harassed, bullied and accused of being ‘murderers’ when we were not even privy to the outcome of this case.” As a result, ACF returned the donation and issued a statement in which they rejected all accusations of involvement in the case.

Earlier, the foundation had shared a letter from Taimur Ali Mirza, the son of the victim, explaining that the ACF was not aware of the donation.
While many accused ACF of being “criminally silent” or “suspiciously quiet,” most people gravely disapproved the criticism as they believed that the donation could have been used to support hundreds of other animals that were present in ACF shelters.
ACF is a serious, incredible organisation that works night and day to care for the most abused creatures I've ever seen. It's a shame that anyone should attack them. They need support now more than ever. https://t.co/eg4VpGTaGZ
