A team of Taliban members is currently calling on regional powers around the world after US Taliban peace talks halted last month, and their representative, Suhail Shaheen, has said they will be visiting Islamabad to discuss “important issues” with officials in the capital.

The Taliban delegation led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar has recently visited Russia, China, and Iran for similar discussions. However, the Pakistani government has not yet confirmed this development. An unnamed Taliban official revealed to Reuters that the delegation would be informing Pakistan’s leadership of the aspects of the talk that derailed the potential of a deal allowing US and other foreign troops to withdraw in exchange for Taliban’s guarantee of security.
