What happened: On February 25, the Indian publications reported that a Sikh girl was asked to remove her turban, citing the Karnataka court orders of not wearing scarfs, hijab, religious flags and saffron shawls. It is pertinent to mention that the Karnataka High Court had ordered, “Students should refrain from wearing religious flags, or the likes within classroom, until further orders in institutes that have prescribed student dress codes/uniforms.” Details: The incident was reported at a Bengaluru college on February 16, and the 17-year-old girl was asked to take her turban off, but she refused to do so. Whereas, The News reported, “The family of the girl argued and said that the order(Court Order) does not mention anything about the Sikh turban.” More: Previously, a Muslim student in India was asked to remove her hijab in Karnataka. Since then, the Karnataka court had ordered to stop wearing burqas, head scarfs, and religious flags in educational institutions.
