Another birthday marred by Covid-19: Queen Elizabeth II

For her 94 th birthday, the Queen has decided to keep celebrations on the down low in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Queen will not be celebrating her birthday as usual this year with royal gun salutes all over the UK. The basic salute is 21 rounds, fired at 10-second intervals.  In some parks, extra rounds may be added. Keeping it low key According to Buckingham Palace, “Her Majesty was keen that no special measures were put in place to allow gun salutes as she did not feel it appropriate in the current circumstances.” With the number of coronavirus cases in the UK crossing 114000, it seems that she has made a wise choice to keep her celebrations to a minimum.   She is to the spend the day in Windsor Castle and will receive warm wishes from her family members via video call.
