What happened: The National Polio Laboratory of Pakistan stated that the country had reported its second case of wild poliovirus in 2022 after new type-1 wild poliovirus was confirmed in a 2-year-old girl from North Waziristan. However, the current health minister has said, “I will be visiting the province myself to monitor the situation on the ground.” Details: It is to be noted that this is the fourth case of wild polio to be recorded globally in 2022 and the second in Pakistan, which was reported in April 2022 in the same district.
