What happened: On Apr 12, researchers from Queensland University of Technology questioned 556 crypto investors and discovered they were showing characteristics of the ‘dark tetrad.’ The term “dark tetrad” in psychology refers to someone who exhibits narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy. The research: According to 10 News, Dr Di Wang, the study’s principal researcher and a senior lecturer at the university, said that digital currency enthusiasts share a number of troubling psychological traits, making it simpler for them to abuse others. Dr. Wang also discovered two common reasons why people are drawn to bitcoin, the first of which is the ‘appeal’ of high-risk returns. “We identified two key areas of appeal,” Wang stated in an article co-authored by Dr. Brett Martin and Dr. Jun Yao, “For starters, crypto trading appeals to people who enjoy gambling because of its high risks and big potential profits.” The second reason, according to them, is that crypto is not regulated by regular lawmakers, which appeals to many ‘dark tetrad’ individuals who fear the government.
