NA 249: The NA 249 seat fell vacant after PTI minister Faisal Vawda resigned from his seat due to his seat in the Senate. Vawda resigned from his seat as he was a dual nationality holder at the time of his nomination papers being filled.
In light of his resignition the election commission announced by-polls for the seat in March.
The Area: The NA 249 constituency represents a very diverse area of cultural, socioeconomic and economic diversity. The constituency is situated in an area which holds seats that border Sindh and Balochistan. Additionally, the area is one of the most deprived constituencies among Karachi’s many. The constituency is far from the city center comprising both planned and unplanned areas, hence there is an acute water shortage issue throughout the area. Crime and poverty rates are both high in the area.
