“DHA Security was about to kill these stray dogs before I saved them!” reveals a Lahorite

What happened: An Instagram user Rafae Karim revealed that a few dogs were about to be killed by the DHA security before he rescued them. While talking to Rafae,  “The obedient and cute stray dogs were about to be killed by the DHA security.”  Rafae also said that the little puppies were packed in a shopping bag and were thrown in a plot by the DHA security. The Instagram user disclosed that DHA security had also separated them from their mother, “Nova.” Rafae also asked the DHA security about the location of Nova and her pups and they said,  “Wo toh hum ney maar diaye.”

Rafae wants: Rafae is now looking for a home for these “cute” puppies as they are friendly and obedient and deserve loving homes.
Rafae can be reached out through his Instagram @champagnepak.i Details: Rafae, while traveling back from his office, “ noticed the dogs were packed in a shopper bag and thrown into a plot . ” He immediately rescued the dogs and decided to take them home after reuniting them with their mother. Despite being stray dogs, the dogs are currently well kept at Rafae’s home in DHA, where they are being taken good care of. It has often been reported about the authorities’ mistreatment in regards to stray dogs. Earlier this year, Punjab’s Chief Secretary Jawad Rafique, stated that killing dogs inhumanely would be punishable by 50,000 rupees.

Why it matters:   The rising cases of animal cruelty in the provincial capital are of great concern. The animals at the Lahore zoo, Tollinton market, were subjected to a somewhat “gross” and “inhumane” treatment by the market owners. Rafae concluded his interview by saying  “It is utterly saddening to see the levels of mistreatment that stray dogs face by the hands of authorities.”  Rafae revealed that the laws for dog culling in DHA Lahore have changed, but the authorities lack implementation. This then causes the death of hundreds of stray dogs. Rafae highlighted, “Such a shame that people wish to harm innocent living beings who can’t even communicate with us.”
