Nasir tweeted, “Two kidnappings DHA in 6 months both times kidnappers weren’t caught. The hunt for them must continue otherwise Godforbid one of our family members could be the next victims”. On November 30th, Dua Mangi was kidnapped by armed men from Karachi DHA’s Bukhari Commercial while at a restaurant with her friend, Haris Soomro who was shot and wounded during the crime. On Thursday, DIG Kharal made a statement saying, “It appears to be a case of kidnapping for ransom”. He claimed that this has been ascertained through investigation that the student was kidnapped for ransom. He provided no further elaboration. The DIG South had been leading various teams of police probing the incident. On Tuesday, police made a statement saying they suspected a criminal gang was behind Mangi’s abduction. Following this kidnapping, members of the civil society staged a protest at Karachi’s Teen Talwar roundabout. Mangi’s sister spoke to the media and said that the family was dissatisfied by the performance of the police force “despite the passage of three days, the police have failed to recover her”.
