‘Enraged men’ ablaze ten houses in Sukkur over village’s honour

What happened: Dawn reported early on May 30 that after an alleged abduction of a woman and her sisters belonging to the Chauhan community, a group of men torched nearly ten houses near Rohri. The ten houses were blazed in the Sham Kaladi village; as a result, a 4-year-old girl was trapped in the fire and died. Details:   Dawn also quoted local reporters as,  “The woman intended to contract a free-will marriage with a youth belonging to another community.”  However, reports claimed that the woman abduction feared the parents, and they complained to the elders of the Sham Kaladi village. The unrest continued as the parents believed that the woman was abducted by the other community members, later resulting in the few  enraged men  from the Chauhan community torching the houses of other communities.  More: On the other hand, the victim community alleged that the attackers belonged to the Chauhan community, as they subsequently approached the local police station to file a complaint against the Chauhan community members for setting fire to their houses.
