What happened: On March 17, Dawn reported that a father in Gujranwala was arrested for raping his minor daughter. The incident is quoted as, “The victim said her father had been committing this act with her for a long time.” The incident took place in Gujranwala’s Kot Shahan village and the cantonment police arrested the suspect and registered a case against him. The police took action on the wife’s complaint. Details: Dawn further quoted the incident as, “Nazir submitted an application to the Cantonment SHO alleging that his daughter went to market with her son to buy goods and when she returned, she saw that her husband was raping their daughter.” Subsequently, the complaint added, “He(husband) pulled out a pistol and threatened to kill the children.” What you need to know: This is not the first instance in 2022 of rape in Gujranwala, as more than five incidents of rape have been reported in the city since the year’s start.
