Global Warming: Climate change minister warns of heatwave and calls for taking climate crisis seriously 

What happened: Sherry Rehman, the federal minister for Climate Change, stated that Pakistan is now facing a never before seen heatwave across the country, with unprecedented high temperatures,  “creating clime emergencies from north to south of the country.”  Senator further urged that  “our northern mountain ranges and glaciers anticipate Global Lake Outburst Floods, where glacial lakes first form snowmelt on the glaciers.”  Details: At the same time, talking about the threat, Sherry Rehman said,  “these glaciers melting constitute serious risks and vulnerability for the Pakistani population as the country right now has over 3,044 such lakes identified in the mountains.”  Whereas, she termed that Pakistan’s heatwave is due to  hugely reduced rainfall . She further urged,  “This is an urgent need for better public service communication and crisis preparedness from the NDMA and provincial governments.”
