Government decides to honor Dr. AQ Khan, by a building and road after his name

Details : Several reports suggest that the federal government has directed CDA (Capital Development Authority) to name a road and building after the late Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan. The federal cabinet has directed the CDA to name a prominent building after the father of Pakistan’s nuclear program, to mark his contributions to the country.

Also : At the same time, they have directed the officials to name a road in the capital after the late Pakistani nuclear scientist. However, it is yet to be decided which building and road would be named after the late scientist, as various proposals were under consideration and soon to be decided. According to a private media outlet report, “A service road in E-7, where Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan used to live, and the road of sector F-10 is also under consideration to be named after the late nuclear scientist. The final decision is yet to be made.” The Pakistani nuclear scientist died in Islamabad, and as instructed by the Interior Ministry, was given a state funeral at Faisal Mosque before the burial in the H-8 graveyard, Islamabad.

Who was Dr. AQ Khan? Pakistani nuclear physicist, considered the father of Pakistan’s atomic weapons program, was born in 1936, Bhopal. Later in 1952, he migrated to Pakistan, and in 1976, he founded the Khan Research Laboratories. However, during his last days, he was unconvinced with the government’s policies, and Imran Khan for not inquiring after his health, he expressed this via a video message. In his interview by a private media outlet, “I am quite disappointed that neither the prime minister nor any of his cabinet members have inquired after my health.”
