The governments social welfare programme ‘Ehsaas’ has introduced a new project titled ‘Ehsaas for Students’. This project’s aim is to provide scholarships to at least 200,000 students from lower-income, disadvantaged families over the course of the next four years.
The PM stated in a tweet that the government would provide 50,000 scholarships per year, reserving half for women.
The projects mission statement is to ensure that ‘no student is deprived of education because of financial need’. Students enrolled to any public sector university will be eligible for scholarships on the basis of merit if their family income falls below the poverty threshold. The scholarship, which will cover tuition fee and provide students with a stipend, also encourages students from remote or rural areas to apply.
The deadline to apply for this scholarship is December 10th. Keep up to date with more news at ProperGaanda: Indian Sikhs cross the wagha border to celebrate Nagar Kirtan
