The internet is obsessed with cats, fact. But now a new cat centric trend has popped up on Indonesian Twitter, where people are dressing their cats up in traditional Indonesian garb including hijabs.
Twitter user @txtdarionlshop posted a few pictures of cats wearing hijabs, that resembled the style of hijabs commonly worn by Indonesian muslim women. And, in just a few hours the tweet went viral.

Pet sized veils are being sold on an online e-commerce site, Shopee Indonesia. They cost roughly $6 and the reviews under these listings are stellar. People can’t seem to get enough.
The seller Fredi Lugina Priadi stated that he didn’t realise the pet-veils had gone viral on social media. He said that he used to make costumes for male pets, featuring traditional Indonesian muslim garb, and that he only started making feminine pet costumes after someone specifically asked him to.
Some netizens have pointed out that these costumes may hurt the cats if left on for too long. But, so far they seem to be only being used for harmless photo ops.
