Islamabad tailor gets robbed of 240 Eid clothes at gunpoint

What happened: Gunmen in Islamabad tied up and beat a Pakistani tailor named Muhammad Razzaq and his staff as they robbed the shop and took more than 200 Eid outfits. Details: Two armed men barged into Razzaq’s shop on Apr 21 taking 240 finished or nearly finished shalwar kameez outfits. “The police haven’t been able to discover any leads on the men who turned my Eid into a nightmare,” says Razzaq. He claimed that the loot was worth more than Rs.720,000.  More: The Eid festival is expected to begin on Monday (May 2) or Tuesday (May 3). On Friday, most of Razzaq’s shop’s shelves were empty, “I’ve been in the neighbourhood for 20 years and have customers who come to me with branded fabrics from upscale areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi,” he added.  One of the tailors beaten during the robbery, Salman Ashraf, described the robbers as extremely aggressive, “The gunmen assaulted us, tied us with ropes, and demanded that we keep quiet,” he added. The police confirmed the incident and said they are investigating it.
