Karachi pregnant woman killed in sleep after cement blocks from nearby construction site fell on her residence

What happened: On March 21, several slabs of cement fell from the second floor of a building under construction near Abu Bakar Mosque in the Upper Gizri district, killing Dua Arsalan, a 30 year-old pregnant woman, and injuring her four-year-old daughter, according to details. Details: The mother and daughter were taken to Jinnah Hospital by residents and family members. Doctors claimed the young girl’s health was also critical. According to hospital sources, the deceased was expecting a child. The top of the house where the cement block fell was likewise composed of cement, according to SHO Clifton Arshad Afridi. At the time of the incident, Dua and her daughter were asleep.  What happened next: The body was handed over to the heirs after legal proceedings, and a raid was conducted on the under construction building to arrest the workmen and the contractor. Suspects fled: The contractor and labourers feld, according to Gizri police station officials, but they will be arrested soon. According to officials, police are conducting raids in order to catch the owner of the under construction site that was being illegally extended upwards.
