London woman marries pet cat to overcome landlord’s restrictions

What happened: A 49-year-old lady, Deborah Hodge in London married her cat named India, to get past a landlord’s requirement of not renting out apartment to pet owners. Back story: Hodge considered the necessity ludicrous and eventually opted to marry her kitty because she had previously experienced the heartbreak of having to forsake her pets owing to similar regulations.  The ceremony: The single mother of two tied the knot in a civil ceremony on April 19, recalling her prior experiences and frightened of losing India. After her children, the mother says that India is the most important thing in her life. “By marrying India, I want any future landlords to know that we come as a bundle and that we cannot be separated under any circumstances since she is as essential to me,” she told Express. More: Ms Hodge and her pet kitty wore tuxedo-style costumes for their wedding ceremony in a park in southeast London earlier this month.
