Man arrested for selling fake Covid-19 vaccine certificates in Karachi

What Happened : The police on Monday arrested a man for selling fake Covid-19 certificates in Karachi. He was arrested after a complaint of those in charge of administrating the Covid-19 vaccine at the Expo centre. According to Aziz Bhatti SHO Pervez Solangi the culprit was a barber that was employed in the IT section of the vaccine centre due to the different computer courses he had done. He had been allegedly selling vaccine certificates for Rs. 2000 each and the police suspect that there are more people within the centre engaged in such illegal activity.

The Bigger Picture : There has been a sharp increase in fake vaccination certificates all over the world. Certificates are also being sold by anonymous traders for as little as $150 or as much as $750. The number of adverts promoting this practice has increased drastically in the past months, as people start to fear the alleged side effects of the life-saving vaccine. Sellers of vaccines appear to be from the US, UK, Spain, Germany, France, and Russia. Similar practices are now being observed in Pakistan as people take advantage of the doubts over the Covid-19 vaccine in order to make extra cash.
