No woman to marry; Mexcian man marries an alligator

What happened: Following a centuries-old ritual dating back to the pre-Hispanic time, a Mexican mayor married an alligator. The incident was reported from a small town in Mexico known as San Pedro Huamelula, where the town’s mayor married his alligator bride in a colorful traditional ceremony.  Details:  Traditional Mexican music was heard in the background of the ceremony, and the revelers were dancing before the mayor kissed the bride, aka the alligator. The mayor of  San Pedro  was identified as  Victor Hugo Sosa. During  the wedding ceremony, he  “bent down to plant his lips on the small alligator’s snout, which had been tied shut presumably to avoid unwanted biting.”  What you need to know:  It has been quoted that marrying an alligator ritual is seen as rare now in Mexico but,  “it most likely dates back centuries to pre-Hispanic times among Oaxaca state’s Chontal and Huave indigenous communities, like a prayer pleading for nature’s bounty.”
