What happened : Pakistani artist Arooj Aftab’s track Mohabbat was featured in the former US president Barack Obama’s summer playlist. Tracks by other iconic artists such as Rihanna, The Rolling Stones, Jay-Z, Bob Dylan were listed along with her popular track.

Mohabbat, based on the poetry by Hafeez Hoshiarpuri, was released in March 2021 under her album ‘Vulture Prince’. The track was previously sung by late Mehdi Hasan, renowned Pakistani ghazal singer. Aftab was delighted to be included in the list and shared the news on her Instagram. Many artists including Mira Sethi, Riz Ahmed, and Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy commended Arooj on the achievement.
