Pakistan is one of the top 10 countries most affected by climate change

What happened: Due to the heat waves, droughts, floods, natural catastrophes and cyclones, Pakistan has been among the top ten countries most affected by climate change during the last 20 years. At the same time, as a result of climate change, Pakistan suffered a loss of 3.77 billion dollars from 2000 to 2019. The News quoted the development as,  “Pakistan scored 29.1 on the Climate Risk Index on average and had 502 fatalities per year.”  Details: On the other hand, while discussing the impacts of clime change, according to the report, it was not gender-neutral as it affected women and young girls more. The News report quoted,  “They(women) have access to fewer resources and agency during periods of climate stress, as well as the heaviest burdens to bear.”  Subsequently, it read,  “Around 70% of the world poor are women, and the pandemic has exacerbated the gender gap in extreme poverty.”  More: Whereas, it is pertinent to mention that climate change has already affected the snow-capped mountains in Kashmir. At the same time, it is expected that the northern areas of Pakistan re to receive more glacier melted lakes as a result of climate change.
