A Pakistan Internatonal Airlines (PIA) aircraft has crashed in a residential area near the Karachi Airport, Geo News reported.
The crash was confirmed by the PIA spokesperson Abdul Sattar and he added that the flight, A-320, was carrying 90 passengers and was flying from Lahore to Karachi. Footage aired by Geo News showed plumes of smoke rising from the site of the crash. Ambulances and rescue officials arrived at the scene to help residents.
Minister of Health & Population Welfare has declared emergency in all major hospitals of Karachi due to the plane crash, according to Meeran Yousuf, the media coordinator to the Sindh health minister. This is a developing story that is being updated as the situation evolves.
