Thanks to Prime Minister Imran Khan, Pakistanis will now be able to watch Turkish drama ‘Dirilis: Ertugrul’ which has been lovingly dubbed the ‘Turkish Game Of Thrones’ on PTV.
A few months ago, the former cricketer recommended the Turkish television show to the public and expressed his interested in wanting to dub and air all five seasons of the series on PTV.
According to Arab News, the Prime Minister made a special request to PTV to dub the show in Urdu and air it. Shazia Sikander, PTV Director for International Relations announced that “PTV has got exclusive rights for dubbing and screening it in Pakistan.” Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan also revealed, “We have taken this initiative as the Prime Minister wants to protect our social, cultural and religious norms.” He further added, “It is also Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision to share media content to counter Islamophobia and improve understanding of Islamic values… The Muslim world has its own cultural heritage and values, but we are looking into western ones.” Although there is no word yet as to when the show will be aired in Pakistan, casting for voice-actors is underway.
