A resolution to ban dance and music gatherings at weddings was presented in the Punjab Assembly.
Member Provincial Assembly Uzma Kardar opposed the ban, arguing it restricts cultural celebrations and happiness. She questioned the proposer’s understanding of marriage customs in Punjab.
The Speaker remarked that performances by famous artists are considered art, while those by less privileged individuals are seen as obscenity. Samiullah Khan suggested addressing social issues and reframing the resolution to reflect cultural traditions.
