Punjab health officials confirm one suspected case of coronavirus in Faislabad

The person is a student of MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) who had recently flown back from China, where he was enrolled. This is one suspected case of coronavirus infection in Punjab, confirms the additional secretary of the Punjab ministry of health. “He is a young boy, who has been quarantined at a hospital in Faisalabad,” Dr Salman Shahid. Provincial government has bolstered health presence at all four airports – Sialkot, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan – in the province.  “Isolations wards were set up at the airports since the pandemic began,” the additional secretary said, “Many suspected patients have been brought to these units and then discharged.” Pakistan has, to date, confirmed two cases of the deadly infection, in Karachi and the capital city, Islamabad. According to media reports, the patient recovering in Islamabad had made a stop in Punjab’s city of Lahore. Globally, there have been 82,294 confirmed cases of the respiratory illness, according to the World Health Organisation’s report dated February 27, and 27,47 deaths in China, and 57 outside of China.
