“Save me…My uncles are raping me,” pleaded the niece before the Rawalpindi police arrested two men

What happened:  It was reported that a 14 years old girl ran out of her home in Dhok Darazian, Rawalpindi, during the night and pleaded to the area’s councillor, “Save me… My uncles have been raping me everyday.” The area’s councillor, Shazia Sajid, quoted by a media outlet, said, “When I saw the girl, she was panting and shivering. There were bruise marks across her body, I immediately took her to the police station nearest to my house.”

Details:  At the same time, it was reported that the 14 years old was living alone with her uncles, as her mother was in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, “While she(mother) was gone, my uncles were babysitting me.” Whereas, the victim has also told a publication, “My uncles have been raping me for years, but every time I told my mother about it, she beat me up and told me to stay quiet.” Ali Abid Naqvi, the district child protection officer, has said, “She is safe now. Why it matters:  The data released by an NGO, Sahil, stated that eight children from Pakistan were abused daily in one form or the other, and 51% of them were girls. In 2020, nearly 3,000 significant crimes against children were reported in the four provinces of Pakistan.
