Sharif’s on 12 Hour Parole to Attend Kulsoom Nawaz’s Funeral

Former First Lady Kulsoom Nawaz passed away on September 11th, 2018. Soon after, the government announced the release of her husband and daughter, Nawaz Sharif, Capt. Safdar and Maryam from the Adiala Jail.

The inmates are said to be released on parole to attend the funeral scheduled to take place in Lahore.

To ensure they abide by the rules of the government, police forces have been discharged around their Raiwind road residence to restrain their movements. Even though Kulsoom Nawaz’s body is yet to arrive in Pakistan, it is said that the release was done so on grounds of empathy and compassion. Their parole was initially for 12 hours but is anticipated to be extended and will be exclusive of their travel time. The government officials released an official statement claiming that there would be no question in granting the inmates their parole for the funeral. Furthermore, they added that the plea that was issued by Nawaz Sharif will also be given due diligence and legal credibility. “Initially, we released them on parole for 12 hours but the application they have given to the Punjab government is for five days and we are considering it,” the provincial law minister Muhammad Raja Basharat said.

Maryam Nawaz also spoke to the media and expressed her grievances about not being able to spend her mother’s last breaths with her. She also urged her supporters and well-wishers to pray for her release.

Kulsoom Nawaz who was the First Lady of Pakistan thrice died in her UK residence.
