Pakistan accuses India for using photo mix-up to ‘divert attention’ from occupied Kashmir
On Saturday Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Maleeha Lodhi presented a photo of a victim during a fiery speech in the UN General Assembly that was reportedly taken in Kashmir following the pellet gun attacks. However, it was later revealed that the image was in fact of a Palestinian girl injured by strikes in Gaza, taken by photographer Heidi Levine in 2014. Ever since the incident Indian Media outlets were quick to point out the error and bashed Lodhi on social media platforms. Pakistan’s Mission to the UN accused India of hiding behind a picture to divert the world’s attention from the situation on the ground in India-held Kashmir, on Monday.
Lahore Development Authority plots case reopened against Nawaz Sharif by NAB
A decades-old case was reopened against ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif in a National Accountability Bureau meeting held on Monday in Lahore, which was presided over by Director General Shahzad Salim. This came a day before Mr. Sharif was to appear before an accountability court in Islamabad regarding money laundering and corruption cases. Mr. Sharif appeared before a NAB court on Tuesday however the proceedings only lasted a few minutes before he was excused from the court. Mr. Sharif had informed the court that his wife was ill and he needed to attend to her, following which he was granted permission to leave the premises.
Imran Khan submits reply to ECP in contempt of court case
Pakistan Tehreek-i-insaaf Chairman Imran Khan’s lawyer, Babar Awan, submitted a written reply to the Election Commission of Pakistan on Monday in the contempt of court case. The election body will review the reply and announce its judgement on the 27th of September. Moreover, the arrest warrants issued by the ECP for Khan have been suspended following the submission of an order of Islamabad High Court.
COAS issues warning regarding hostile foreign agencies
Days after a cross-border attack on a check-post near the Rajgal Valley border martyred a 22 yr old soldier, the Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa warned, in a press release on Monday, that “hostile agencies from abroad are trying to destabilize our country”. In the line of duty martyred soldiers like Alam got tribute by COAS Bajwa, “Pakistan Army shall continue to perform in the best interest of the country and will stand by with the nation against all challenges,”.
Law enforcement agencies held responsible for missing persons
The Senate Functional Committee on Human Rights’ Chairperson, Nasreen Jalil, accused law enforcement agencies of abducting people and “asked” them to investigate the missing persons case. “They [disappeared individuals] are not even presented in court and [only] their tortured corpses are found later,” she alleged. Jalil inquired how anybody could obey the law if the law enforcement agencies themselves do not abide by it.
Most Wanted Terrorists Arrested in Balochistan
The Frontier Corps Balochistan conducted operations in various parts of the Balochistan. Four suspected militants terrorists were killed. It also included a suicide bomber. A statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations confirmed the news. They were involved in the abduction of civilians and attacked the law enforcement that led to a security threat. Large illegal acquired weapons were also seized during the operation. According to ISPR, this was a part of “Operation Raddul Fasaad” that was launched by the army in February’17.
Pakistan’s Senate Bill cleared Nawaz Sharif to be PML-N Cheif Again
Ex-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif return to Pakistan gave Pakistan Muslim League Noon’s (PML-N) supporters a ray of hope. After spending three weeks in London with his wife Kulsoom Nawaz’s treatment in hospital and consulting within the party leaders, Mr. Sharif would appear before the Supreme court filed against him by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The bill that is passed by Senate, with an amendment made way for Sharif as a party leader. It all depends on the party leaders within PML-N to put up a legal defensive case in the court.
Imran Khan wants Donald Trump to make negotiations with Taliban
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan came up with a new resolution for United States (US). His given solution for US President Donald Trump is to stop attacking Taliban and instead focus on having peace talks with them. In this way, it would help Pakistan too. Recently, in an exclusive interview with The Associated Press today, Khan stood up for Pakistan’s international role in militant operations that helped the US and debunked Trump’s allegations of Pakistan being a save heaven for terrorists.
