The global death toll from coronavirus has continued to climb, worsening on Wednesday as it hits 882,068, with 44,136 deaths. António Guterres , the United Nations Secretary has said the outbreak that has infected hundreds of thousands of people around the world is the “most challenging crisis we have faced” since World War II. The United States has long overpassed China with the number of confirmed cases, which is now at 185,000. “This is going to be a very painful — a very, very painful — two weeks,” stated US president Donald Trump at the White House as he described the pandemic as “a plague.” While the situation in the US continues to compound, Italy has finally seen a levelling off of infections during week two, reporting the lowest number of cases since March 17. The “disease… represents a threat to everybody in the world and… an economic impact that will bring a recession that probably has no parallel in the recent past,” states Guterres.
