Women On Wheels is a programme that trains women to take on the road and relieve them of transport issues The programme, which was initiated by the Salman Sufi Foundation, plans to ensure that 10,000 can independently fulfill their transport needs by International Day For Women in March. “This is a project to empower women which was the dream of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto,” said Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, who will be present at the inauguration of the programme along with Aseefa Bhutto Zardari. The ceremony will take place at Frere Hall on November 24. Founder Salman Sufi told a private news source that the response in Karachi has been beyond his expectations, with “6,000 applications received within hours of announcing it”. The training sessions for WOW Karachi will commence at University of Karachi on the 25th of November, after which it will spread to other areas of Sindh like Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana by January 2020.
