Farjad Hussain, a young activist working against the illegal occupation of lands, was killed on 25th May in Nalter valley of Gilgit-Baltistan. Farjad used to run the famous food joint “Mamtu De Hunza” in Lahore. The motive behind his death is still unknown and it’s unclear if an investigation has started for this or not. This is not the first time voice of reason has been smothered in Gilgit-Baltistan. User Zagum Abbas took to his facebook page to alert everyone of Farja’d untimely death and demand justice for him. He writes in his post, “Whatever the circumstances of his death, the sad incident reveals an ugly attempt of silencing dissent in Gilgit-Baltistan.
