A coordinated terrorist attack targeted the Old Police Lines compound and its mosque during Friday prayers today in Kohat. At least 21 people have been martyred, including 15 police officers, and over 80 others are injured.
The attack began when a suicide car bomb exploded near the mosque, causing the roof to collapse on worshippers. Heavily armed terrorists then engaged in an intense gunfight inside the complex with security forces, who eventually cleared the area. High-ranking officials, including Traffic SP Akbar Shinwari, are among those martyred.
The terrorist group Ittehadul Mujahideen has claimed responsibility for the attack.
