A $3 million lottery might be waiting for you in an email spam folder like it did for this American woman

What happened:

After searching her spam folder for a missing email, a 55-year-old woman named Laura Spears from Oakland County discovered that she had won a $3 million lottery.

Details:

Spears said she purchased a Mega Millions ticket on MichiganLottery.com on Dec 31, 2021.. After she won a $1 million reward, the prize was increased to $3 million. The 55 year-old added, “”I saw an ad on Facebook that the Mega Millions jackpot was getting pretty high, so I got on my account and bought a ticket. A few days later, I was looking for a missing email from someone, so I checked the spam folder in my email account.” That’s when Spears saw an email from winning the lottery saying, “I couldn’t believe what I was reading, so I logged in to my lottery account to confirm the message in the email.”

What else:

Last week, she declared her prize at the lottery offices, stating that she intends to split the money with her family and retire early. Spears added that she would check her spam folder more frequently, “I added the Michigan Lottery to my safe senders list just in case I ever get another email touting a significant win.”
