After banning imports, government deprives overseas Pakistanis of voting; stops the use of EVMs
The National Assembly of Pakistan has approved the bill seeking the removal of electronic voting machines in general elections of Pakistan and disallowed overseas Pakistanis from voting. The Parliamentary Minister Murtaza Javed Abbasi presented the bill for approval.
However, it is pertinent to mention that this comes at a time when PTI had been vocal about EVMs and overseas Pakistanis voting in the general elections. As well as, PTI had termed the use of EVMs and overseas Pakistanis as a Game Changer. Now, after the National Assembly unanimously passes the bill, it will be presented in the Senate on May 27.
