On Apr 17, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Chairman Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman in a public gathering in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa demanded the new government to hold elections immediately.

Details:

The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) government’s coalition parties seem to have split, with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) as its Rehman’s demands for fresh elections. He further stated that the new government’s term would be limited to one year. JUI-F, according to the lawmaker, has its own existence and identity. Rehman says that the JUI-F has effectively removed Imran Khan from the prime ministership and that they now want to let the people of Pakistan to choose their own rulers through new elections.

New360 quoted their sources that PML-N and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) have excused themselves from granting Maulana Fazlur Rehman the presidentship owing to external pressure, but have promised JUI-F crucial positions such as deputy speaker of the National Assembly, governorships of Balochistan and KPK.

What else:

PPP and PML-N were found to have dispersed crucial ministries and positions, prompting the JUI-F to express reservations. Fazlur Rehman, on the other hand, promised to support the new administration in exchange for election reforms.
