What happened: On Apr 17, Rabia Bibi Osman, an orphan who was adopted by Abdul Sattar Edhi and Bilquis Bano Edhi, penned a heartfelt tribute to the philanthropist as she recently passed away in Karachi. Details: Rabia explained how she was one of the many infants the Edhis found in the baby carriage, “You forged my identity, you named me after your mother, Rabia Bano, and then you gave me a home.” The 28 year-old expresses her gratitude for having parents whom she called her own, “You fought for women’s rights, you were an activist, a philanthropist, a rebel for the good cause. You taught me the power of women, to always have an unwavering sense of self and to be unapologetically ambitious,” Rabia recalls Bilquis Edhi as a powerhouse of humanity. Rabia went to a great high school, achieved scholarships throughout college, did an internship in NYS Assembly, Bronx District Attorney’s Office, U.S Congress, U.S Senate and went to law school to pursue a masters in Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Law, today she works as Senior Privacy & Compliance Analyst at Nike, “All because of you. Losing Barre Abu (Abdul Sattar Edhi) was tough, but your loss has made me feel orphaned again,” says Rabia.
