Every day 11 motorbikes are stolen in Karachi, reveals a report

What happened:

According to Sindh’s Citizen-Police Liasion Committee Karachi on average report theft of 11 motorbikes every day during 2021. International Crime Index’s report published in April ranked Karachi at 114th spot as the street crime in Karachi rose during 2021.

Details:

Over 43,000 motorbikes were stolen from either parking lots or from the residency in Karachi and on average, 4,000 motorbikes were stolen every month in Sindh’s capital. However, out of 43,000 stolen motorcycles, only 2500 were recovered and handed over to the owners. At the same time, nearly 4500 motorbikes were snatched at gunpoint from the citizens of Karachi. On average, 300 such robbery cases on gunpoint were reported in Karachi.

Also:

 On the other hand, 150 cars were stolen each month in Karachi. Whereas, 2300 mobile phones were snatched in 2021 as 50% of stolen mobile phones were recovered by the local police. Samaa reported that in 2021, 85% of people living in Karachi were deprived of their motorbikes than 2020.
