FBR freezes Aima Baig’s bank accounts after non-payment of Rs85 million in taxes

What happened:

On January 20, the Federal Board of Revenue froze all the bank accounts of the renowned singer Aima Baig over non-payment of taxes. The News report quotes, “The singer had withdrawn her money from the banks before FBR’s action. The inquiry team was unable to recover any amount from her accounts.” Subsequently, the Federal Board of Revenue has launched proceedings to confiscate the cars owned by Aima Baig. 

Details:

It is pertinent to mention that it was alleged that Aima Baig had failed to pay eight crore rupees in taxes collectively in 2018, 2019, and 2020. At the same time, Samaa’s report quotes, “The singer had withdrawn 25 million rupees before her accounts were frozen.” Whereas, Aima Baig is also set to be featured in the Pakistan Super League season 7’s national anthem along with Atif Aslam.
