What happened: The researchers at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland have conducted psychological trials for physiological therapy in a bid to help men with broken hearts. The Scottish researchers are yet to give results for their study as it’s a three-year study. They would recruit 90 Scottish volunteers who have been diagnosed by doctors with takotsubo cardiomyopathy, otherwise known as broken heart syndrome. Details: A member of the British Heart Foundation Cardiology Research, Dr David Gamble, is quoted as, “Takotsubo cardiomyopathy or broken heart syndrome remains a comparatively poorly understood condition, and we must develop a high-quality evidence base to guide clinicians in the management of this condition.” How will the exercise be conducted? It has been said that the volunteers will either be asked to participate in a personalized exercise condition or a cognitive behavioural therapy or skip both activities, as the scientist will then examine heart conditions after three months.
