“I did not see but felt the incident of harassment,” says Meesha Shafi
On January 4, during the cross-examination in a defamation suit by Ali Zafar, Dawn quotes Meesha Shafi(@meesha.shafi) as, “She did not see but felt the incident of harassment allegedly occurred in the jamming room.” At the same time, another publication claims that Meesha said she was nervous and scared about the tweet that she posted in 2018 regarding the alleged harassment. During the 2nd day of the hearing, Meesha Shafi revealed that the singer groped her during a rehearsal in December 2017.
Subsequently, Meesha Shafi was asked about witnesses being present at the time of the alleged harassment, to which Meesha said, “Even I myself am not an eye witness to this incident. I felt it but I did not see it.” During the cross-examination, Meesha also claimed that she sought legal advice before she posted the 2018 tweet. She also shared the details regarding the tweet and said, “I was very nervous and scared about the implications and cost of making such a choice.”
Meesha Shafi clarified that she and the plaintiff did not share an affectionate dynamic. Talking about the harassment, she said, “These touches were fleeting and discrete as harassment often is.”
